The YMCA is taking over daycare operations at Belle River Public School.
Board Treasurer Cathy Lynd confirms to AM800 News the YMCA will take over as of June 30. However, the board continues to refuse an explaination behind the removal of Sonshine Daycare from the school.
Lynd says the school will be sending out more detailed information to parents about the changeover.
She says there was a Request For Proposals done for daycare operators a number of years ago and that the YMCA was next in the rotation.
Sonshine operates two daycare centres in Belle River — one at Belle River Public School and the other at St. John the Baptist elementary school. Both are closing, putting 15 staff out of work.
