Workers at Syncreon Automotive Ratify a New Deal

Workers at Syncreon Automotive in Windsor have ratified a new contract.
480 members, part of Unifor Local 195, have voted 81% in favour of the new three year deal.
The ratification avoids a possible strike at the plant that supplies the Windsor Assembly Plant.
Union Vice-President Emile Nabbout says it feels good to get the deal for the workers, "I would say right off the bat, the members have told us all along they were underpaid and the $1.50/hour increase is effective immediately."
Nabbout says workers are happy with the new deal, adding "We have lots of language gain and besides the wage increase we have lots of improvements in the collective agreement. It was a very healthy collective agreement and we owe a lot to this membership, this is a great collective agreement."
In early March, workers voted 99.9% in favour of strike action. The previous agreement expired March 31st. Syncreon is the last stop in the supply chain to Fiat Chrysler's Windsor Assembly Plant.
