The Windsor Youth Centre has received some financial help to raise awareness of the centre's programs and services.
The Home Depot presented a cheque to the centre Tuesday morning worth $25,000 as part of the Orange Door Award.
The money will be used to train more workers to reach out into the community and into local schools.
"We are just trying to get out into the community and schools," says Youth Centre Volunteer Shanee Dennis. "It is good for kids to be aware of the Windsor Youth Centre."
Home Depot Store Manager Roland Robert says the Windsor Youth Centre was only one of eight groups chosen across the country to receive the funding.
"It is great to be able to support the different programs and organizations within the Windsor community," says Robert.
Dennis says the centre provides emotional stability for the youth.
"Having somebody to talk to or just not necessarily the physical needs or the material needs but just having somebody there who knows my current situation at the time, to care about me and talk me through, it is a big help."
The Windsor Youth Centre helps homeless and at-risk youth.
The Home Depot's Orange Door Award recognizes non-profit organizations that try to help homeless youth.
