Windsor Police Chief Al Frederick has announced he is retiring from the service.
The Police Services Board accepted the announcement today from Chief Frederick, who became choked up at one point.
He has been a Windsor police officer for over 33 years, the last 5 as chief.
"it's been, you know, inspiring. each and every day coming to work with these people doing some great work in the community together I have no regrets for sure" said Chief Frederick
Chief Frederick says just this morning he was proud as he watched the entire police service kick into gear to find a child that may have been abducted.
He told the police services board it has been an honour to serve as chief:
Chief Frederick says there have been many challenges to deal with from the unfounded sex charges probe, to street check legislation to the legalization of marijuana.
He plans to do a lot of volunteering in the community and spend more time with his wife, but has no other plans for the future yet.
His final day will be January 31st.
