The Windsor Public Library will be doing a test run next week.
CEO Kitty Pope says the Central Branch on Ouellette Avenue will be open for computer-use only.
"Nine computers will be available so that they're two metres apart," says WPL CEO Kitty Pope. "Customers will have 45 minutes on the computer and 15 minutes for us to sanitize the areas and then bring in a new group of nine folks."
Pope says it will be first come, first serve.
"We're going to try to just show up partly because for lots of folks who are using our computers they don't have a computer so it's hard to reach out and make a reservation if you can't do it online," says Pope.
She says she's expecting a strong response for the service.
"Those folks who have relied on us for years for computer access have been essentially without it," says Pope. "So we know certainly down in the downtown core there's lots of requests because our computers are always busy."
The rest of the library will remain closed but Pope says users can still access material through curb side pick up.
Pope says if all goes well next week at the Central Branch additional branches such as Riverside, John Muir and Budimir Branches will open for computer use only in the coming weeks.
She adds a number of safety measures have been put in place such as plastic barriers and proper spacing between the computers.
Users will also be asked five questions up on arrival.
The Central Branch will be open from 10am until 8pm, Monday to Thursday and from 10am until 5pm Friday and Saturday for the computer-only service.
