Windsor-Essex is tops in a recent campaign to get the most employers committed to paying a living wage.
Pathway to Potential is part of a network across the province which held a friendly competition to see which region would get the most employers to sign up.
The Windsor-Essex living wage program currently has 41 employers representing over 7700 employees and is number one out of 20 communities involved across the province.
"Publicly champion the idea of a living wage and for some employers that means they were already paying a living wage and they want to be public ambassadors and public champions of the concept," says Pathway to Potential Director Adam Vasey.
"People should earn enough to be able to live a life of dignity and fully participate in the community and so it is a recognition program for employers who want to create healthy vibrant communities."
Employers who recently signed up include Highbury Canco, the Windsor Youth Centre, WEtech Alliance and Jeff Smith's County Chevrolet in Essex. This is International Living Wage week.
