Windsor Eats is launching a new initiative.
Co-owner Adriano Ciotoli says they want to promote Windsor and region as Whiskytown, Canada.
He says there is a rich history of distilling in the area and feels it's important to showcase the birth place of Canadian Club whisky.
Ciotoli says the area is also home to the largest distillery in North America.
He believes the new initiative will help draw tourists and whisky connoisseurs to the area.
"We look at places like Kentucky and they're known as Bourbon Country and rightfully so," says Ciotoli. "You have millions of people that go and visit Kentucky and go and visit distilleries literally in the middle of no where in these small towns in the middle of Kentucky."
Ciotoli says they are working on a number of whisky experiences including tours and events.
He says one event is already planned.
The first Whiskytown Festival will take place on August 4 at St. Mary's Church in Walkerville.
