The Windsor-built Chrysler Pacifica has aced all the safety crash tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
It achieved the top rating in five tests for head-on collisions, side impact, rollover safety, offset frontal crash and headrest protection.
It was also tested for the Automatic Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning System and was rated "superior" in the category.
FCA Media Relations Manager for safety issues Eric Mayne says the company is pleased.
He says their crash mitigation technology is more complex than most.
"Most systems use either camera or radar to detect an imminent impact and we use both," says Mayne.
Mayne says the use of high-strength steel is more than 70% of the body structure and is key to the high level of safety for passengers.
