VIDEO Lakeshores Getting a Hotel

Some exciting news for the Town of Lakeshore.

A Holiday Inn Express and Suites is coming to the municipality.

Mayor Tom Bain says Petretta Construction is behind the development and it will be located off Manning Road on Amy Croft Drive between Driving Range and Boston Pizza.

Bain says securing the hotel is a feather in the cap for the municipality.

"This will mean people will be able to come in here for tournaments, stay in the area locally and this is also going to mean a lot for our local businesses," says Bain.  "Because these large tournaments come in and people stay, they're going to shop locally in Lakeshore itself, so extremely pleased."     

Bain says the town has been working hard to attract a hotel.

"We're quite excited about having the Holiday Inn come in the area," says Bain.  "It's something that there's been a real need for especially since we've built our Atlas Tube Centre and the number of tournaments that we have come in with regards to soccer and hockey and baseball."      

He believes the hotel will benefit both Lakeshore and Tecumseh.

"We both have commercial areas right in the Manning Road section and Amy Croft and as I say those people who come in for those tournaments, they're going to stay here, they'll go out to dine in the area locally and they'll shop in the area locally," says Bain.   

Bain says final details are still being worked out when it comes to how many rooms and how many floors.

No word when construction will start.
