With the positive vote by all three University of Windsor student groups, the proposed $73-million sports and recreation complex moves toward reality.
The Graduate Student Society voted 63% in favour, making it the third of the groups to come on board.
Ivona Bilbilovska was on the original steering committee at the genesis of the project and is now a GSS member taking her Masters of Business Administration.
She says it's an incredible feeling to see the project get the green light.
"This project has been three years in the making. A lot of student input has come back and a lot of changes have been made. It's great to see all students coming together because they see the value of this project and allowing it to go forward."
Bilbilovska hopes to be involved in fundraising for the facility, because she knows many alums are ready to cut a cheque.
"They see the benefits. Richard Peddie is the first one to say that when this vote comes through as a yes, which it now has, that he will be the first to give $150,000 towards this project. So that is astronomical to have that sort of alumni support."
The student associations will be responsible for three quarters of the cost while the university and donors cover the rest.
The hope is to have the facility ready for use by 2019 or 2020.
