A Windsor man is being recognized by the United Way.
University of Windsor professor Brian E. Brown has received the Charles E. Brooks Labour Community Service Award for his outstanding work in the community.
Brown was recognized for his lead role with the Windsor University Faculty Association in promoting solidarity among the diverse unions at the school.
Brown has also served as a member of the United Way Community Impact Council.
Brown says he was not expecting any awards for his work. "You never do the work to receive anything, you do the work because you love to do it and I have always approached it that way. Whether it is labour or community service it is something I enjoy doing and if I can help people out then that is what I try to do. To be recognized is fabulous."
Brown is the 39th recipient of the award.
