A man critically injured in a house fire in Windsor yesterday has passed away.
Fire crews were called Wednesday at 2am to the home at 969 Moy Ave, just north of Erie Street and found flames shooting from the home's living room window.
An elderly man and his adult son lived in the home.
The son, who neighbours say was in his 50s, was taken to the hospital and transferred to a hospital in Hamilton where he passed away last night.
The elderly man suffered smoke inhalation and was released from hospital.
An investigator with the Ontario Fire Marshal's office determined the cause was accidental and the result of careless smoking.
The fire started in the living room and caused a total of $150,000 in damages.
There were working smoke detectors in the home.
