Two people killed and two others sent to hospital after Hwy. 401 crash on Sunday

A mother and son have died following a weekend of crashes on Hwy. 401 near Dillon Rd. Chatham-Kent.

Chatham-Kent OPP say a 42-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy, both from Amherstburg, were pronounced dead at the scene.

AM800 News can confirm the teen to be Kyle Brundrit of Villanova high school.

Police say a 39-year-old man was air lifted to hospital with serious injuries and a 12-year-old boy was sent to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

As heard on AM800 News on Monday, the crash closed the highway between Bloomfield Rd. and Queens Line for 11 hours.

Police say on Sunday around 4:40pm, a westbound tractor trailer hit six vehicles that were stopped on the highway due to another crash.
