Planned increases in tuition, meal plans and residence fees are the reasons behind a rally this afternoon at the University of Windsor.
Organized by the University of Windsor Student Alliance, spokesperson Matthew Dunlop says it starts at 3pm, an hour before the Board of Governors meets to discuss and vote on the increases. "We're going to be there in full force letting them know that increasing tuition is not the answer and there needs to be a true moving towards having a system that's accessible but, at the same time, doesn't put people in a $30,000 debt sentence."
Dunlop says not only does the rally send a message, it's good for students. "It's also kind of therapeutic for people who are facing thousands upon thousands of dollars of debt and fears what this is going to be in the future. We're going to get to hear from people, what their experiences are and also see the over-arching scope of what's been happening for the past two or three decades with post secondary education tuition."
The rally takes place at the CAW Student Centre.
