School officials say parking will be an issue with double the number of University of Windsor students, staff and faculty moving to the downtown next September.
The existing location for the School of Social Work has about 500 people in the downtown core.
University of Windsor spokesman John Coleman says they anticipate there will be many more people at the new site a few blocks east. He says sorting out the parking issue is one of the last items they're tackling.
"Now we're getting around to one of the things we're looking at is parking," says Coleman. "At this point we're looking at what the needs are going to be and trying to find appropriate spaces."
Coleman says there are ongoing talks on the issue.
"At this point we're getting into discussions with the city so I don't want to get too far ahead of where everything's going and looking at what their availability is in terms of parking spaces and working toward an accommodation for our needs," he says.
There's a city lot up Goyeau St. across from the Windsor police station, one at Caesars Windsor, as well as numerous vacant lots where there's parking.
