Unifor Local 444 members are braving the chilly weather in Regina to support locked out Co-op Refinery workers.

Some members headed to Saskatchewan last week while others are arriving this week.

Kendall Harris has been there for the past few days.

He says it's important to support the unionized refinery workers.

"Our local put out a request looking for members to get out there to support and back up their members, a lot of places are unfortunately in Canada trying to cut back on pensions and stuff like that," says Harris.  "It's important to stick together."

He says the only difference picketing in Saskatchewan is the weather.

Harris says at times the temperature has hit -30.

"Battles are pretty much the same," says Harris.  "It's kind of, we're trying to make sure that they get treated properly with respect and with fair wage and fair pension and stuff like that."

The lock out at the petroleum refinery started in early December.

Unifor Local 594 represents more than 700 refinery workers.

They were locked out by the company after the union issued a strike notice.

Pensions are a key issue in the dispute.
