A trustee candidate for the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board has come up with a way to save both the catholic and public school boards money — the merger of administrations.
Eric Renaud says the catholic board spends $6.2-million a year on board administration, with the provincial government making cuts across the board, he says ways need to be found to make up for those cuts.
"Merging the catholic and public boards is the best way to avoid cuts to the frontline education system," says Renaud.
However, he stresses that he is not talking about closing any schools or any program changes.
"I'm only calling for the merger of school board administrations, not the closure of catholic schools, Catholic schools offer education with a faith-based aspect, and that needs to be preserved."
