Construction on Ouellette Ave. has Transit Windsor asking the public for patience.
The Ouellette Ave. streetscape improvement project begins Monday morning, shutting down the intersection of Ouellette Ave. and Wyandotte St. for several months.
Executive Director Pat Delmore told AM800 News all but a few of Transit Windsor's Buses converge at the intersection, those stops will be moved east of Ouellette Ave.
"It is our major connection point in the city and of course that whole intersection will be closed, so we will be moving bus stops right off of Ouellette Ave.," he says. "The majority of buses will be using Goyeau St. and McDougal Ave."
He's asking the public to be patient — it will take some time to adjust to detours.
"We don't expect a major impact on timing, it takes a few days for us to get into the groove on a major detour like this, it does with all traffic," says Delmore. "It's going to have some major impacts for transit riders and we'll have to be asking everyone to be a little patient as we get used to these new routes over the next number of weeks."
Delmore encourages the public to call Transit Windsor or the city's 311 service with any questions, all route changes can be found at www.citywindsor.ca.
Construction is set to conclude in November.
