The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is offering some tips to how to avoid becoming a victim of the flu or a cold so you can be happy and healthy this holiday season.
Health Promotion Specialist Jenny Diep says 'rule number one' is to cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing. "Holidays are such a time of year where many of us come together to celebrate. So when people get close together germs can spread easily. There is evidence of a spike in respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses right after the holidays so we see quite a dramatic increase in emergency department and walk in clinics this time of the year."
Deip told AM800's 'The Afternoon News' that other tips include washing your hands frequently and, if you haven't already, get a flu shot.
