If you prefer to do your holiday shopping online, there's some advice from the Better Business Bureau of Southwestern Ontario.
Make sure you're shopping on a secure site that has a lock in the address bar and, when opening promotional emails, make sure the company is legit and not just looking for your banking information.
BBB Spokesperson, Ashley Casselman says beware of email subscriptions. "Sometimes you sign up for something you think is free or it's at discounted but then you're signing up for an automatic monthly subscription. So you're going to want to read the terms and conditions for anything that you sign up carefully, that way there's no surprises ahead of time."
A National Retail Federation survey says consumers plan to spend an average of $936 during the holiday shopping season.
