Tigers blow out K.C. for fourth straight win

Nicholas Castellanos went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a triple and five RBI to power the Tigers to a 9-3 win over the Royals at Kauffman Stadium.  Victor Martinez had a two-run single for Detroit, which notched its fourth straight win.

Matthew Boyd gave up a three-spot in the first inning, but settled down to get through six and earn his third win.  Travis Wood was rocked for nine hits and six runs in less than five frames to take the loss for Kansas City.  

Eric Hosmer and Alcides Escobar each had RBI singles for the Royals, who have lost seven of their last eight games.

Justin Verlander gets the start for Detroit tonight, while Kansas City sends Jason Hammel to the hill.
