It's official, the Detroit Pistons are saying goodbye to the suburbs and relocating to downtown Detroit.
Starting next season, the Pistons will move from The Palace of Auburn Hills to the new Little Caesars Arena, which they will share with the Detroit Red Wings.
The Pistons moved away from downtown Detroit in 1978. The franchise played at the suburban Pontiac Silverdome for a decade before moving to the Palace of Auburn Hills in 1988.
At the news conference, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan said "when the Pistons tip off here in October, it will be the first time in 43 years that all 4 of Detroit's major sports teams will be playing in Detroit."
