The Insurance Bureau of Canada has released its Top 10 list

There's a clear theme to this year's list of the most stolen vehicles in Ontario.

The Insurance Bureau of Canada is out with it's Top 10 most popular vehicles for thieves.

In the top two spots are the 2014 and 2015 Toyota 4-Runner SUV.

IBC spokesperson Pete Karageorgos says "all the vehicles on the list fit one category. What jumps out at anyone looking at the list of the top 10 stolen vehicles in Ontario is the number of sport utilities, they are typically all sport utility vehicles a lot of higher end, everything from Toyotas to Lexus Cadillac or Range Rovers.  They're big vehicles and they're expensive vehicles."

Karageorgos says "we're also about to hit prime theft season. Many people leave their vehicles running in the winter time with the keys in it, that's an invitation for a thief.  It makes it much easier for them."

Vehicle theft in Ontario is up 5-percent this year and up six-percent nation-wide.
