Cate Duxbury and her husband Jamie Pignanelli welcomed their third son to the world on one of the biggest sporting days of the year.
Macsen Pignanelli is one of four babies born at Windsor Regional Hospital's Met Campus this Super Bowl Sunday. The hospital has wrapping newborns in football cocoons as a fun way to mark the occasion for the past five-years.
Duxbury admits her husband is the football fan in the house, but that will likely change thanks to Macsen.
"This is very cool, we're very excited that he was born on Super Bowl," she says. "It's always going to be a big celebration Super Bowl Weekend because it will be the birth of third son as well so we're very happy and very blessed."
She tells AM800 News she had a little fun at her husband's expense, and guessed right.
"He's going to be born Super Bowl Sunday just too kind of give you a hard time," she says. "Yesterday I said my water broke and he was like, 'no.' Yup it did. He said, 'okay, I guess we're having this baby on Super Bowl Sunday.'"
Macsen was born around 2am Sunday morning, Duxbury let her husband sneak away to watch the game.
Abiya Tahir, Noah Nahnybida, and William-Karim Nesr were also welcomed to the world.
