The Windsor Spitfires are boosting their blue line adding several defencemen in this year's draft.
With their 17th overall pick at the 2017 OHL Priority Selection Windsor selected Nathan Staios.
He's listed at 5'8", 160 pounds and comes from the Vaughn Kings Minor Midget AAA's where he was team captain.
Spitfires GM, Warren Rychel, says Staios is a solid, all-around player.
"He's a great player and a great kid more importantly. What I really like about him, his first pass is really good, he's got his head up all the time, excellent skater and he really walks the offensive line really well. For his size right now, he's a little but under sized, but he's going to grow and for his size he really shoots the puck."
Staios is the son of former NHL'er and current Hamilton Bulldogs GM Steve Staios.
Rychel says Staios is going to be a leader.
"He just has that aura about his and when you're in a hockey family like that and everyday you're talking about hockey and you're watching your dad work and he's got a head start because he's been in the hockey world for a long time. He's a good kid. He'll be a good kid in the community and he can break pucks out."
With it's 2nd pick Windsor selected defenceman Louka Henault at 96th overall in the 5th round.
He's 5'11', 168 pounds and comes from the Toronto Marlies Midget AAA program.
Local defenceman Stefan Dobrich of the Sun County Panthers Minor Midget AAA was picked as well in the 10th round at 182 overall.
