The Spitfires are busy getting ready for Friday night's preseason game at the WFCU Centre against the Sting in the first of a home and home series that will see the Spits head to Sarnia Saturday night.
The Spits still have a handful of players attending NHL camps including Michael DiPietro who is with the Vancouver Canuks.
DiPietro, who was selected in the third round by the Canuks tells AM800 Sports they have two other talented goalies in Lucas Patton and Brock Baier.
DiPietro says he has a great relationship with new goalie coach, Perry Wilson. "I've known Perry for a while and our relationship continues to grow everyday and we have an understanding what we want to accomplish."
DiPietro says he doesn't feel the Spits are rebuilding. "I think it speaks volumes to what a skilled group we have, the drive and will to win is still there."
The Spits regular season opener is next Thursday here against Saginaw.
