There is a dire need in Windsor for people to volunteer for the Snow Angel program.
The first significant snowfall of the season has left the city with only about 10^ of the people it requires to help those who can't shovel their own driveway or sidewalk.
Executive Director of Human Resources, Vincenza Mihelo says "right now we have over 100 residents who have called in asking for assistance through 3-1-1, depending on how much snow we get we anticipate that to go higher."
"Those over the age of 65 or disabled can't shovel themselves and they're stuck inside their homes so we want to help. It also assists those who need to go to the home delivering mail or packages it's difficult for people to get in and out of their homes as well even police and fire," says Mihelo.
People interested in volunteering for the program are asked to call 3-1-1. Volunteers need to be at least 16-years-old and the time does qualify for high school volunteer hours.
As an added incentive, volunteers will be entered in a draw to win an iPad, and there are also two, $50 Rec Express Cards to be awarded.
