With their current contracts set to expire March 4, employees at four local parts suppliers have voted 99% in favour of strike action, if necessary, to back contract demands.
The companies involved include Avencez Assembley, Dakkota Integrated Systems, HBPO and ZF Friedrichshafen. All are represented by Unifor Local 444 and supply the Windsor Assembly Plant.
Local 444 President James Stewart says the vote sends, "a strong, unified message to employers that it's time to bargain a good and fair contract."
While the workers have voted to strike, a date has not been set. Wages and benefits are among the key issues.
