Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for breaching conditions, then attacking a woman, while being arrested.
The 30-year-old was originally arrested in January on charges of possession of property obtained by crime and possession of ammunition. He was released on conditions including not to drive, but was spotted by an off-duty officer driving earlier this month.
Yesterday morning, police found the suspect on Thames St. but while speaking to him, the man grabbed a woman and held a pair of scissors to her neck.
Officers managed to break her free and a struggle ensued before he was eventually arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failure to comply.
The 30-year-old, of no fixed address, is being held pending a bail hearing.
