A long-standing fundraiser takes place Friday night at the Caboto Club in Windsor.
It's the 39th annual Hospice of Windsor and Essex County Gala.
Events and Communications Coordinator for Hospice, Francesca Mak says over 1,000 guests are expected.
"We're just so thankful to be able to do this again for the 39th year and just to be able to celebrate what we do and all the people that support us," says Mak.
The theme this year is An Evening in the Tropics.

She says the event is also being dedicated to Executive Director Carol Derbyshire, who's retiring after nearly 40 years with hospice.
"I think this year is a special year because it is Carol's last year and because of that we're getting a lot of support from everyone in the community," says Mak. "This year is just a special one because it's for Carol."
Derbyshire will step down in December with Colleen Reaume taking over as executive director.
