It's public input time in Amherstburg.
Wednesday is the first of four public consultation meetings to get feedback from Amherstburg residents on the future of policing.
The Windsor Police Service submitted a bid to takeover policing in town which could save the town $567,000 a year.
Amherstburg put a request for proposals looking to maintain its policing level and possible improve it, but at the same time lower its costs.
Windsor was the only one that submitted a bid.
Amherstburg police constable Steve Owen says frontline officers continue to do their job, regardless of the possible outcome.
"Morale here is good," he says."We realize we have a job to do and a community to serve so we just keep doing our job and the big thing is we realize that the decision is out of our hands so we are just going to make the best of whatever our future brings."
Owen says they have received some calls from town residents in a show of support, and tonight's meeting is a great opportunity to ask some questions.
"To my knowledge, there is going to be representation from Amherstburg Police Association, Amherstburg Town Hall, and town council, our chief will be there and Chief Frederick from Windsor Police Service."
The meeting takes place Wednesday 6pm at Amherstburg Town Hall Council Chambers.
The next meetings include McGregor on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 6pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall; Malden Township on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 6pm at St. Peters ACHS College; and Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11am at the Libro Centre.
