An items highlighted in the Auditor General's report has Essex MPP Taras Natyshak upset.
Bonnie Lysyk pointed to the $40-million dollars the Ontario government spent on self-promotional advertising.
She points to the perception that those ads are more about how good the Wynne government is and less about the programs they're meant to promote.
Natyshak says the provincial government used to use its ads for good purposes like the "good things grow in Ontario" ad that's not partisan and promotes agriculture.
Natyshak says it looks like this is a government that's using tax dollars for what amounts to campaigning: "I think it's almost a Hail Mary where the government has to tell everybody how great they are by spending their own money to advertise how great they think they are"
Natyshak highlights the fact the Wynne Liberals removed the ability of the Auditor General to have oversight of the province's advertising then ramped up the amount they spend on ads to promote themselves.
Natyshak also notes this is the same government that has removed the ability of opposition parties to fundraise.
