Lakeshore is looking to make a slight adjustment to its name.
Councillor Linda McKinlay wants Lakeshore to be referred to as the Municipality of Lakeshore instead of the Town of Lakeshore.
She says there are many communities within Lakeshore that want to keep their own identity like Belle River, Comber, Staples, Stoney Point and Lighthouse Cove.
"It looks like a step backwards but actually it's just correcting an error and that's what we're interested in doing," says McKinlay.
She put forward a motion at Tuesday night's council meeting requesting the change which she says is needed to avoid confusion in Lakeshore.
"Others have done this, other municipalities that came out of the gate town of somewhere at amalgamation, have in fact changed back to a municipality," says McKinlay. "You can't have a town in a town, so what we gave up when we became a town was all our towns."

She believes rural residents are in favour of the change.
"They want their designations back," says McKinlay. "They want the security of knowing it will always be that way and the only way to do that is by becoming a municipality again."
She believes some areas of Lakeshore have lost their identity.
"There's a lot out there, there's a lot of small towns and villages and hamlets out there that all give up those designations and became communities but of course you don't send anything to a community, you send it to the Town of Lakeshore," says McKinlay.
She doesn't believe there will be resistance from residents.
"I don't do a lot of work in the wards closest to Windsor, certainly there was no push back in the rural wards, we're 80 percent rural," says McKinlay.
A report dealing with the proposed change will be brought forward at the December 12th council meeting.
Last fall, council agreed to make Lakeshore as the primary mailing address for all residents living in the town.
Instead of putting Comber or Belle River as their mailing address, residents would of had to put Lakeshore but after public outcry council reversed its decision.
