Ontario college students, including those attending St. Clair College in Windsor and Chatham, will be met with pickets instead of professors and instructors if they go to school on Monday.
The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) says 12,000 college faculty will be on the picket line Monday morning after talks between the union and the College Employer Council failed to reach a tentative agreement.
Union Bargaining Team Chair JP Hornick says the union presented the council with an offer on October 14 but the offer was rejected.
"Unfortunately, council refused to agree on even the no-cost items, such as longer contracts for contract faculty and academic freedom," says Hornick. "This leaves us no choice but to withdraw our services."
OPSEU represents professors, instructors, counsellors and librarians at 24 colleges across Ontario.
