No charges are being laid after Windsor police shot a man at a trailer park a year ago.
The province's Special Investigations Unit has found there was no criminal offence committed on the part of Windsor officers who shot the man twice.
On September 16th, 2018, police were called to Countryside Trailer Park on Bonita St. after a woman called 911 reporting that her husband had gone outside with a gun.
When officers approached, they saw a man sitting on a deck holding a bat with a long gun beside him.
The man then pointed the gun at one of the officers, and two officers shot the man twice in the upper left chest.
Five shots were fired in total by police.
The officers then provided first aid until paramedics arrived.
He was taken to Windsor Regional Hospital and then transferred to a Detroit Receiving Hospital with serious injuries.
The SIU found the force used by the officers was justified as their lives were in danger.
It turns out, the victim's gun was inoperable, but police were not aware of that at the time of the shooting.
