An agreement has been reached in principle between Canada South Science City and the Detroit International Bridge Company which owns the Ambassador Bridge.
Science City has plans to move into the former Forster High School and be part of a non-profit co-op in the building. The bridge company owns the old west end school. President of the Board of Directors (of Science City) Bill Baylis says it hopes to open in six months.
But he admits there is a lot of work and renovations that need to take place inside to make it a modern science centre. He says Science City would be part of the bigger picture in the building.
"It is not just us, we would be part of a non-profit co-op and we would be the largest part and we would occupy half the space there at Forster," says Baylis.
It closed back in September 2015 from its previous location on Marion Ave.
Baylis hopes the centre will re-open in the middle of next year.
