The centre is located on Walker Road near the EC Row Expressway

It's song and dance for the Greek Orthodox community in Windsor.

It has officially opened the Hellenic Cultural Centre next to its church on Walker Rd. north of the EC Row Expressway.

The church has been open for a couple of months but the centre is hosting its first event Saturday.

President Panos Sechopoulos says the centre also includes a large patio in the back for the greek festival at the end of June.

He says the centre can host anything from weddings to baby showers.

"A capacity of around 400 people,"says Sechopoulos.  "We have a full professional kitchen in the back.  We also have greek classroom for a Saturday and Sunday school for our Greek kids."

Sechopoulos adds there are over 500 families in the area that belong to the Greek Orthodox Community.

"People have been asking and we had to finally decide if we were going to build a community centre or a church and hall together and after a lot of soul searching, the community decided to do both."

The Greek centre was located on Highway 3 but it closed to make room for the Herb Gray Parkway.  It received more than $10-million from the province back in 2009.
