Name for Cobo Centre About to Change

New name for Cobo not yet fully determined
There will soon be a new name for Cobo Centre in Detroit.
The Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority has announced Chemical Bank has won the naming rights.
The facility opened 59 years ago and was named after former Detroit Mayor Albert Cobo.
Chemical Bank recently announced a merger with Minnesota-based TCF Bank so the new name for the convention center will not be known until the merger of the two companies is approved.
However, officials with Chemical Bank say they will begin to remove the sign age on the building as soon as possible.
The reported deal calls for Chemical Bank to pay $1.5-million a year for the next 22-years.
