The Canadian Institute for Health Information has released its annual report on wait times for specific priority procedures across the country.
In Ontario, at least 4 out of 5 patients received their hip or knee replacement in 2016 within the benchmark time frame, with 85% receiving a hip replacement within 182 days and 81% receiving a knee replacement within that time frame.
The Erie-St.Clair LIHN was above the provincial rate, at 87%, when it came to hip replacement but only 78% of patients received a knee replacement within the benchmark time frame.
Province wide, patients are waiting longer for cataract surgery. Last year, 70% of patients had their surgery within the medically accepted time frame. This was down from 86% in 2012.
Waits for hip fracture repair surgery have remained stable, with more than 4 out of 5 patients receiving their surgery within 48 hours.
Nearly all patients who needed radiation therapy started their treatment within the benchmark last year. This remained stable since 2012.
