Local flowershop expects busy Valentines Day

A local flower shop expects a huge boost in business for Valentine's Day.
The president of K Michael's Flowers & Gifts says he expects a big year for the store and that they have already received around 200 to 300 pre-orders so far.
Christian Wojdylo says roses are always most popular during this time of year.
"The most popular flowers for Valentine's Day would be roses, red roses specifically, but this year it's been a little more popular to add some pink into the mix. Roses, chocolate, teddy bears, any mix of things to show romantic vibes to your partner."
He says they expect many last-minute walk-ins on Tuesday.
"We want to save those flowers for the last-minute people. As much as it helps us business-wise to be prepared for the pre-orders, its also nice for people to come into the store to meet us, see us, and maybe build a relationship with us face to face, rather than those who just call in or leave an online order."
Wojdylo says he expects a boost in sales compared to last year.
He says they had their best Valentine's Day sales two years ago, early in the pandemic.
"Last year things came down pretty dramatically it was only half as much as the previous year, the bigger year, and I do expect a larger Valentine's Day than at least last year, but I am wondering if we can make it to that record high that we had two years ago."
Wojdyo says those looking to buy flowers or other items for Valentine's Day, should order ahead of time.
Valentine's Day is on Tuesday, February 14.
