A downtown Windsor businessman is looking to help save the Canadian Club Brand Centre.
Water's Edge reception centre owner Larry Horwitz has been putting a plan together to buy the building to be used as an events centre.
In February, Canadian Club announced it planned to close the centre at the end of this year.
Horwitz says losing it would be a huge hit to the community.
"We felt that it would be amazing if we could both, have an event centre too, it's a great location, and at the same time save a historical monument to the city making it work for the city."
He says he's got big plans for the property.
"We take it over and revive it and turn it into a tremendous event centre, a huge asset for the city and improve on what they've done for our community keeping it open, keeping it an asset and letting it still be a tax paying asset for the community."
In addition to the efforts of Horwitz, an online campaign is underway to help save the historic building as well.
'#SaveTheBrandCentre' was started by Windsor advertising agency Tango and Tourism Windsor-Essex Pelee Island.
