Local area hospitals have released an update on the cyber attacks that disrupted patient care this week.
Windsor Regional Hospital, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, Bluewater Health, Chatham Kent Health Alliance, Erie Shores HealthCare say they continue to work 'around the clock' to restore systems following a recent cybersecurity incident, alongside the shared service provider TransForm Shared Service Organization.
They say leading third-party cybersecurity experts have been engaged and they expect to have updates related to the restoration of our systems in the upcoming week.
The public is being asked to attend their primary care provider or local clinic if they do not require emergency care.
The hospitals will continue to do their best to contact patients directly in advance if they have a scheduled appointment with one of our hospitals that needs to be rescheduled.
"We understand the impact this incident is having on members of our community, including patients and our employees and professional staff, and deeply apologize for the inconvenience this has caused," said the hospitals in a joint news release. "We want to thank everyone for their patience during this time."
"Due to the fact we have notified and engaged police as part of a criminal investigation we will not be providing further comment in response to this statement."
Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed to AM800 News that the OPP Cyber Investigation Team is assisting in this matter and no other details are available in the ongoing investigation.
