Two high profile Liberals join Windsor candidates to campaign

Local Liberal candidates for the upcoming federal election are getting support from heavyweights in the party.

Provincial Liberal leadership candidate Michael Coteau did door-to-door campaigning with Windsor-Tecumseh Candidate Irek Kusmierczyk.

Former federal Minister of  Innovation, Science and Economic Development, Navdeep Bains met workers at the Essex Engine Plant with Windsor West Liberal candidate Sandra Pupatello.

Coteau says he's trying to make sure the Liberal candidates locally get elected.

"Especially with Doug Ford, with the cuts we're seeing and how they're affecting families and children" explains Coteau.  " We need to build an Ontario that supports families, that supports young people to allow them to reach their full potential and that's why I'm out here supporting candidates that are under the Liberal banner."

He'is appealing to the youth vote.

"They can actually make a change by getting out and voting that day" says Coteau.  "They can actually get out and support a government that thinks about the next generation, that thinks about the future economy, that thinks about how people can reach their full potential. Not a government under Andrew Scheer and Doug Ford that's actually out there taking opportunities away from people."

Bains says Pupatello would represent the area well in a Liberal government.

"People know who Sandra is, people know that she' got an impeccable track record as a former MPP and being a local business person that stood up for this region, that stood up for the workers, that supported the automotive sector" explains Bains.  "We need a strong voice in Ottawa from Windsor and we're very confident she'll do very well in the upcoming election."

He responded to the issue of single sports betting brought up by Pupatello.
"We're going to finalize the details in the coming weeks and months, but this is an issue Sandra has raised" says Bains.  "She obviously will be a strong voice for this issue and we're confident we'll be able to move forward with it."

Bains told the workers at the plant he's a former Ford employee in Oakville.
