The death of a 30-year-old Amherstburg pedestrian in a foggy crash a week ago may lead to a civil lawsuit.
Greg Monforton has been retained by the partner of Adam Pouget, Ashley Dupuis to investigate what happened.
Pouget was struck and killed on County Rd. 18 near Meloche Rd. when a car coming the other way hit him.
Monforton says it's important to gather as much information as possible quickly because memories fade, people move and road markings can deteriotate.
He says the goal is to ensure Pouget's family is compensated: "our job as legal counsel for Ashley and her family is to pursue a civil lawsuit if the circumstances lead us to conclude this accident was the fault of the driver of the vehicle that struck down Adam. Certainly all of our preliminary indications are that's the case but it's important no stone be left unturned"
Monforton says the family of Adam Pouget has been hurt in a number of ways and is entitled to is compensation for the loss of their deceased and of their family member's companionship but more significantly to be compensated for the financial losses they have suffered as a result.
Monforton makes it clear he is not trying to pre-empt the investigation by Amherstburg Police and anything they learn will be shared.
In addition to Dupuis, Pouget left behind fourĀ children, the youngest of which is only 8 weeks old.
23-year-old Brandin Crosier of Amherstburg faces a criminal charge of criminal negligence causing death and is to appear in court next month.
