The Town of LaSalle is erring on the side of caution when it comes to reopening its indoor sports facilities.
On Friday the province announced a capacity of 50 people for individual sport or fitness rooms if space allows for physical distancing of two metres under Stage Three of its COVID-19 recovery plan.
LaSalle Recreation Manager Patti Funaro says one of the ice pads at the Vollmer Complex at 2121 Laurier Pkwy. has been open since Phase Two hit with the town's figure skating club using it under those rules.
"Now we have additionally met with the LaSalle Vipers and we're starting to work with our minor hockey association as well," she added.
Funaro tells AM800 News officials are going to take their time reopening the rest of the complex.
"We are in the process of working together to look through putting the ice back in the second rink to see how that will look and then the other areas of the building as well," Funaro added.
She's asking residents to be patient while they work on the best possible plan.
"We want to ensure that we bring people back, but we want to ensure that we're doing it safely," she says. "We will have more information coming in the next few weeks as we work through this."
Funaro says the town likely won't have an issue with ensuring fans and parents are physical distancing for the time being.
Sports organizations have been handing down mandates on spectators in line with provincial health guidelines already.
