The town is aiming to have all the infrastructure in place for the closures by Friday, July 3

Kingsville council has approved a plan proposed by the town's Business Improvement Association to make it easier for customers to support local stores and restaurants.

The open streets plan is similar to the one recently approved in Amherstburgwhich will see streets closed downtown to give businesses more room for customers to shop or eat safely.

Mayor Nelson Santos tells AM800 News the plan will be delayed since Windsor-Essex did not make it to Stage 2 of the province's COVID-19 reopening plan this week.

The closures will take place on Main Street from Spruce Street. to Queen Street and Division Street from King Street to Pearl Street.

The town is aiming to have all the infrastructure in place for the closures by Friday, July 3 in the hopes Windsor-Essex is permitted into enter into Stage 2.
