Downtown Essex Centre has undergone a facelift and the town's Community Improvement Plan is getting much of the credit.
It has covered 50-percent of the cost of renovations for businesses.
Improvements include new facades, windows and doorways to new signage and awnings.
Councillor Steve Bjorkman sees it as an investment in the future. "The more investment that we put in our downtown the more we attract new businesses, the more of our own people we keep here shopping and when they're happy in their town they're calling their friends that live somewhere else and say, "You should come to Essex this weekend." And when those people come they'll be pleasantly surprised with what's here."
Town councillors checked out the improvements in Essex Centre yesterday and will do the same in Harrow October 11th.
