It's the biggest adoption promotion ever at the Windsor-Essex County Humane Society.
The society, which dates back to 1926, is holding free adoptions for cats and kittens this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Executive Director Melanie Coulter says it is bursting at the seams which happens regularly at this time of the year.
"We are really full of cats and kittens right now so our biggest focus is a three-day promotion on cats and kittens," says Coulter. "Adoption fees are discounted 100%, cat and kitten adoptions are all free for those three days only."
The regular adoption process and screening still applies for anyone looking to adopt.
"There used to be a lot of concerns about free adoptions and if people wouldn't value animals when they had a free adoption but more and more research has really just shown that is something that everybody believes, but it wasn't necessarily the case," says Coulter.
The humane society is also partnering with another organization to offer free adoptions for dogs on Saturday only.
Coulter points out that the society still reserves the right to decline any adoption application.
