It's the holiday season and many religions are sharing their traditions with Windsor-Essex County.
The Windsor Jewish Community has invited locals to take part in its Hanukkah celebrations at Devonshire Mall.
Rabbi Sholom Galperin of Chabad Jewish Centre of Windsor says this year they are lighting a large menorah at the mall dedicated to the Windsor Police.
He says the menorah commemorates the eight days of light during Hanukkah.
"Every family will light the menorah," says Galperin. "Every night you light an additional light so night number one you light candle and so on and so forth. The reason we keep on adding a candle is we do not want to diminish the light, we want to increase the light into the world as a whole."
He says everyone in Windsor is welcome to attend.
"Everyone is welcome to Devonshire Mall where we are going to publicly light a big menorah in front of hundreds of people," says Galperin. "The menorah is going to be decorated in blue to spread the light of Hanukkah to everyone."
He says he is thankful to live in Canada where he can share his religion with others.
"The Chief of Police will be there and other dignitaries," says Galperin. "It is a communal event to be able to show in Canada how lucky we are to openly celebrate our freedom and our religion."
The lighting of the menorah will take place on Wednesday at 4pm in front of the mall's Dollarama.
Hanukkah takes place from December 24 to January 1.
