Ward 4's John Elliott is wondering why it's taking so long for the Windsor Essex Community Health Centre to renovate its space at the former College Avenue Community Centre.
He says the centre has sat vacant for a couple of years after the health centre agreed to lease the building from the city.
Elliott says the plan was for the health centre to renovate the building and open sometime in 2017.
He says city staff told him and the rest of council Monday night that the health centre is waiting for capital funding from the province before moving forward.
Elliott says he's trying to stay positive but it's tough. "Let's just say this I've been down that road with them before so I'm hoping it's not a repeat. The money is just not there and the whole deal falls through so without kind of digging too deep in asking questions of our administration, it's something I should probably talk to their Executive Director about," says Elliot.
The health centre is currently working out of a mobile sit in the parking lot across the street from the old community centre. Prior to the mobile site, the health centre was located in the basement of Forster High School.
